Supplemental Support for Students
In addition to individual counseling and traditional therapy sessions, I offer additional avenues of support for middle school and high school students. As always, it is at your discretion to utilize such features, but the option to do so is always at your disposal.
Support Via Texting
I offer all my middle and high schoolers the option to contact me throughout the week. You can reach me through text whenever you want, whether you have a specific problem such as feeling overwhelmed before or after a test or are just having a rough day. I will do my best to respond promptly or within 24 hours and provide what support I can from afar. For example, in high anxiety moments, I can walk you through breathing exercises or other mindfulness activities over text. During times of crisis, I try to respond as soon as possible and continue to make myself available until I feel the situation has been pacified.
Coloring Books
As a valuable form of art therapy, I send mandala coloring books to my adolescent clients. These intricate designs feature flowers and circular shapes that help reduce stress for people with trauma or fixation issues. They can utilize them during sessions or during school lessons to help with the struggles that come with distance learning. They can be used whenever you are stressed, happy, bored, etc.
Mini Therapy Box
Due to COVID, I am no longer able to utilize many of the resources I keep in my office. To help make up for it, I can send a mini therapy box to those that are interested.
The box includes physical supplemental tools, such as:
- A piece of clay
- Velcro
- Mini journal
- [any other inclusions]
The mini therapy box aims to aid emotional regulation practices and coping mechanisms outside of therapy. Utilizing its contents can help transform strategies learned in-session into real-life practices.
Make your worries and troubles smaller, one session at a time
